For Fran, it's about exercise, Scrabble and good friends
While perusing the St. Paul Community Education bulletin eight years ago, an offering caught Fran's eye — the 50 & Fit exercise class, part of Keystone's Active Seniors Program. Worried that she might not be able to keep up, Fran was intrigued. "I thought, I am probably not going to like this, but I will give it a try." Not only did Fran keep up with the program at the Merriam Park Community Center, but the class soon became a regular part of her weekly schedule. "The exercise programs at Keystone are a foundation for my good health," she said, adding that the regular exercise helped her regain full range of motion after she suffered a broken arm.
Besides the 50 & Fit class, Fran also enjoys the Senior Lounge, where she reads the paper and chats with friends. On Fridays, she joins in a game of Scrabble. "I really treasure the socialization, fun, sharing, and good humor of the folks at Keystone," she said. This talented senior is an accomplished seamstress who has taken advanced sewing, tailoring and millinery classes. She recently displayed her custom-made doll clothing at the Keystone Krafters Art Fair.
